Z Manipulator (UHV)

The UHV compatible Z manipulator is designed for the highest performance with regard to sample positioning accuracy, repeatability, and rigidity. The system is driven by a high resolution stepper motor and worm gear combination and a class T7 ballscrew. The stage is guided by recirculating ball type preloaded linear bearings.

The unique feature of this design is that it can be mounted in any orientation without the need for an external support mechanism. When coupled with the XY UHV manipulator, the system forms a three axis sample positioning system that may be mounted or rotated to any orientation without support.

To better couple the sample to the position, a precision bushing is included to provide a two point support of the sample rod. This may also be used with a differentially pumped rotation stage to allow linear and rotary motion of the sample.

Z Manipulators can be ordered with or without encoder. When ordering options be sure to add the proper designation to each part number.

For example:
To order a ZM-UHV-063-150 with an encoder, the part number would be ZM-UHV-063-150-1.
