Capillary Lens

Capillary lens, originally developed by Don Bilderback et al. at CHESS, are typically used in end stations where micro-beam focus is required. Capillaries can be produced with larger numerical apertures (NA) than typical KB mirrors, thus are optimized for high-flux applications. Single-bounce capillaries have been used as primary micro-focusing optics for micro-beam experiments over the last decade - ADC is offering a service to provide capillary lens to synchrotron customers using CHESS equipment specially developed for capillary lens manufacture, thereby opening this field to synchrotron customers world-wide.

A micro-beam implementation at CHESS is shown below:

CHESS has developed the equipment and capability and to manufacture custom capillary lens for synchrotron applications. ADC is offering the service to provide capillary lens to synchrotron customers using the equipment CHESS specially developed for capillary lens manufacture, thereby opening this field to synchrotron customers world-wide.
